POKOTABI / PLACES WORTH A DETOUR
渦巻き鳥
Tantanmen is 700 yen, and diners have remarked on its pronounced sesame aroma. The menu also includes shoyu, shio and miso ramen, as well as cold tantan mixed noodles. Chicken karaage, gyoza and drinks are available too, at a ramen restaurant open from evening until morning.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Diners who have tried the tantanmen say its sesame aroma comes through clearly. It costs 700 yen, the same as the shoyu, shio and miso ramen, making it easy to choose between the different flavours. The cold tantan mixed noodles, at 800 yen, offer something a little different.
One diner recalled that a set of tantanmen, fried chicken and a small bowl of rice made a satisfying meal; another said a large serving of noodles alone was filling. To make the noodles the main event, consider a large portion or an extra serving of noodles (200 yen). For a side, there is chicken karaage, available in portions of 3 (300 yen), or gyoza, which can be boiled or fried and come in portions of 6 (450 yen).
There is also the option of ordering a few snacks with drinks rather than sticking to ramen. The drinks menu lists draft beer and highballs, as well as Hoppy, Shaoxing wine and sake. Some diners have enjoyed tantanmen with a drink. The published hours are 21 until 5 the following morning, every day except Thursday, when the restaurant is closed. It may suit a late meal or a bowl after drinks.
